X Did you vote – in the last election for members of the National Assembly (3 August 2018)? Definitely would not. Probably would. Already have been. 10% 20% 30% 40% 50% 60% 70% I voted. I usually vote, but I did not vote in those elections. I was considering voting, but in the end I did not vote. I did not have voting rights at the time. 42.9 59.8 63.4 40.1 34.8 28.9 16.8 5.4 7.7 48.5 44.0 7.5 0% Source: Mladina 2020. A very similar pattern emerges in boycotting products for political, ethi- cal, and environmental reasons by participants in the European Parlia- ment elections. If we take into account that these elections are also less well attended by young people, this further demonstrates the validity of a one-dimensional understanding of young people’s political participa- tion when it comes to political consumerism. A similar pattern emerges in the purchase of products, with 19% of those who have already voted and at the same time purchased certain products for political, ethical, or environmental reasons (see Figure 9.10). The same finding applies to participants in the European Parliament elections.
